Signed copies are SOLD OUT!

Occupants pairs Rollins' visceral full-color photographs taken in Bangladesh, Burma, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Northern Ireland, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and elsewhere over the last few years—with writings that not only provide context and magnify the impact of the images but also lift them to the level of political commentary. Simply put, this book is a visual testimony of anger, suffering, and resilience that will help its readers realize what is so easy to miss when tragedy and terror become numbing, constant forces—the quieter, stronger forces of healing, solidarity, faith and even joy.

Hello, I wanted to take a moment, actually, since what I wanted to tell you about took so long to make, this might take more than a moment.

Many years ago, I started working on a collection of photographs for eventual publication. I do a lot of traveling and as much as I write when I am in these places, a photograph speaks a different language, so I started hauling camera gear around with me everywhere I went and documented moments as best as I could.

At some point, I upgraded my gear and took a lesson from a woman named Maura on basics and eventually started shooting in manual.

As I traveled and took more photographs I came to the conclusion that the book had to be more than merely a collection of images. If you are a real photographer, you could perhaps get away with that but not me. I am not a photographer, just someone with a lot of visas in his passport and a camera on his shoulder. The last thing I wanted was for someone to think I was being pretentious. I thought about what I could do to make the book be more time intensive on my part, so there would be more for the person who endeavored to get the book. I came to the conclusion that I would write something for each photo. In fact, I would write two things; an impression of the photograph and a caption that provided more of the practical information about where the image was captured, etc.

The writing was difficult and there was a lot of it to do. I committed myself to completing the project and eventually, it was finished. It ended up being one of the most time intensive projects I have ever put myself though. Not only was the writing tasking but I had to teach myself how to process photographs. The learning curve was pretty steep on that part of it but I think I did ok.

I decided to call the book Occupants. I figure that's what we are. We get some time on the planet and that's it.

I have never done a book like Occupants before, we are very excited about this one.

Henry Rollins - Before the Chop: LA Weekly Articles 2011 - 2012 (Signed)
Before the Chop compiles the first one hundred pieces I wrote for the Weekly and also includes the feature interview I did with Nick Cave when Grinderman II came out. For reasons of space, the Weekly must often slightly truncate the pieces and also sees fit to change the name of the piece. So, what you read there isn’t always what I sent them. This is one of the reasons I wanted to put this book out. Also, knowing there are a lot of people out there without the time to go to some website and read something every week, I thought it would be a good idea to have the articles all in one place. I hope you enjoy the book and thank you. - Henry

Henry Rollins - A Mad Dash
A Mad Dash picks up where 2007’s A Preferred Blur left off. A seemingly endless stream of words, one after another, details his travels all over the world, over one hundred performances and the shooting of five documentaries. The book goes right to the end, only stopping at the last page. Henry Rollins is still writing himself into obscurity and from the looks of this book, he’s almost there! This self-published punk is criminally implicated in several books that bear his name. Someone should have a word with him about that. This back cover blurb is not the first time he has written in third-person singular. Thank you. -– Henry Rollins Note: Autographed copies are SOLD OUT.

Henry Rollins - 50 DVD
The 50 DVD has made its arrival to our site after being sold on tour only for most of this year. The DVD is a live performance of me at the National Geographic Theater in Washington DC on February 13th, 2011, when I turned fifty. Ian MacKaye introduces me and I take it from there. It was a good night in a good theater with a fantastic audience. One of the parts I like about it is that we did some non performance footage of me going back to some of my old haunts in DC like the classic venue Madams Organ as well as a tour through my old job that I left in 1981. We are very happy to be able to bring this to all of you who were not able to go to the tour and pick it up there. -- Henry

Henry Rollins - A Preferred Blur
A Preferred Blur picks up where 2006’s A Dull Roar left off, chronicling the effects of a self-inflicted schedule designed to reduce sleep, over stimulate to the point of stupor and induce a case of nervous exhaustion. A marathoner’s depression was the desired effect which was achieved on 12-31-07 when the book comes to an end with the two word sentiment that got the whole project started in the first place.

Henry Rollins - Get In The Van
Henry Rollins graphic account of life on the road recounts his harrowing exploits with one of the most important rock bands in modern history, Black Flag. From his acceptance into the band in 1981 to its demise in 1986, Get in the Van comprehensively documents his six year "tour of duty" with the band. Primarily constructed from his tour journals, Rollins chronicles his years in the band with brutal candor and incisive humor -- years strewn with overzealous fans, truculent policemen, poverty and all-night drives. Contains Rollins' 1981-1986 Black Flag tour journals, nearly 200 photographs and illustrations, and his entire 1981-1986 tour itinerary.

Henry Rollins - Eye Scream
Work on Eye Scream started in 1986. I was crossing America constantly and experiencing the morality shifts, attitudes, and rituals in different parts of the country - the difference in the way people were in the Bible Belt as opposed to New York City, the way blacks and whites interfaced, the intolerance of homosexuality, the morality plays. I started to become aware of how brutal the country is and how much ferocity, cruelty, and oppression are inherent in the culture and how much of it was in me. I wanted to document it and create a book that brought the whole thing to a boil and see w here it left me off. In the summer of 1995, I finished the book and started to edit. Re-reading the manuscript over and over, I realized all the things I had picked up over a decade of playing Devil's advocate and it was inspiring because it clearly defined who my enemies are. As an American, I feel it impossible not to be infuriated by the way things are and have been. I refuse to be happy about the day-to-day and go along with it. There's too much spitting in my face and too much spitting in the faces of people who don't know any other way of life. This book is brutal, and at times, funny. I know that I will probably get a ton of shit for Eye Scream. Enjoy, or better yet... don't. -- Henry Rollins

Henry Rollins - Smile You’re Traveling
Smile, You're Traveling is the third installment in the Black Coffee Blues series of books (which include Black Coffee Blues and Do I Come Here Often?). This time around Rollins reports from show tours and frequent flier financed travel during 1997 and 1998. Whether being terrified by roving gangs of baboons in Kenya or haggling with immigration officials over visa charges in Madagascar, Rollins finds a way to make his unique experiences universal. Says our weather beaten scribe of his journeys, "Some of it was cool, some of it was a pain in the ass, or maybe that was just me."

Rollins Band - End of Silence Demos Orange/Yellow Vinyl
In February of 1991, my bandmates and I sought to the demo songs we had been working on for several months. We went in, played all the songs we had with the arrangements and lyrics such as they were at the time, put a few over dubs on, mixed it to a cassette and were done with it. In October of that year, we would record what became the actual End Of Silence album. Many years later, I contacted my engineer pal Cliff Norrell to see if he would give the tapes a more considered mix, thinking that it would perhaps be a good release of unheard music. We mixed the songs and they sounded pretty damn good. We released the tracks on CD and were done with the project. Several months ago, I got to thinking that perhaps some people would appreciate a vinyl version of these songs. The tapes had been in storage and well kept. I brought them to Oasis Mastering in Burbank, California to give them a listen and to see if it would be a legitimate endeavor. We listened down to the tapes and again, they sounded good and so we went forth and mastered all the tracks. After listening to these songs again after all these years, it reminded me of how good that line up was and how lean and mean the demos sounded. I came to the conclusion that I preferred the demos to the actual album. Hell, we should have just released the demos and saved everyone a bunch of time and trouble.
